this
is still
cowboy country.
Yes, real cowboys do still live in Arizona and deer
and antelope do play...well maybe not together.. but they do roam on the
range. Sweeping vistas of the mountains and prairies, nice buildable
homesites, planned developments and close proximity into Prescott is
making this one of the fastest growing areas in Arizona.
Our favorite places:
Olson’s
feed and Grain –
Cool store for all your animal accessories. They
specialize in natural foods for dogs and cats and you can take your pup
in to get weighed on their mega scale.
Granite Creek Vineyards
–
A real up and coming winery that has
worked hard to keep it’s character and local heritage while producing
some very good wines.
Our favorite restaurants:
The
Old Red Barn –
Located on the west side
of Hwy 89 heading into Chino this charming restaurant offers a
wonderfully fresh and flavorful menu of simple fare (can you imagine
Alice Waters meets cowboy country). Closed on Mondays but open for
breakfast and lunch every other day.
Gabby’s Kitchen–
I don’t know how
they do it. Ample servings and all you can eat fish and chips on Friday
nights at very reasonable prices makes
Gabby's a must. This little place is classic Americana. Stop
in for breakfast and be sure to try the gabby potatoes. On the East side of hwy 89 (phone 928-636-6003) they are open all
day. |

totally
charming village
life.
Good energy in the town with a great age mix. Local
college crowd (we have 3 colleges here) keeps things interesting and
retirees and business crowd have the money to sustain the exceptional
restaurants. Housing is eclectic and runs the gamut from charming turn
of the century digs, mountain cabin style and ultra modern in the
boulder architectural digest homes. Prescottonians pride themselves on
their quirky style so you can find just about anything you want.
Although real estate prices have continued to
rise and land in and around the village is becoming more scarce you can
still find a hidden gem or two for a good price.
Our favorite places:
The
Courthouse Square -Okay it may seem like this is the only thing
anyone ever says about Prescott but it does have something going on most
nights in the summer (music, art shows etc.) and it is CHARMING.
Christmas is very much like “it’s a wonderful life”
(the good part not when Jimmy Stewart is in the alternate universe).
Sharlot
Hall -Very cool museum and don’t forget to check out the grounds and
gardens.
Our favorite restaurants:
The
Raven –A really interesting
bistro with lots of energy. A favorite with the college kids for happy
hour (they serve a wide variety of beers) it also presents a nice
selection of salads, cheese platters and nightly specials. Small but
impressive wine list.
Bin
239 – Terrific wine bar but be prepared to wait. Service is a bit
slow so if you are in a hurry consider an alternative. Great salads,
appetizers and wood fired pizzas.
129 ½ Club –
Great jazz on the weekends, good steaks and
an adequate wine list make this a good special occasion restaurant.

high
growth area with a suburban feel.
This is where the
new businesses and services seem to be headed. Some pretty cool
planned communities and a good selection
of the better franchise restaurants
usually found in much larger suburban enclaves.
Not far from the 17 (fast track to Phoenix).
Our favorite places:
Tim's Toyota Center
- This is where it is all happening.
Concerts, Hockey, Events, Everything. Click on the link above to see
the schedule.
Harkins
Movie Theater –
With 14 screens you can see all the latest
Hollywood has to offer (I didn’t say greatest!).
Our favorite restaurants:
Chili’s Bar and Grill –
Great food, good fun.
